While I’m perfectly happy with the fact LeBron James’ agents at CAA, including William Wesley, ended up having him “take [his] talents to South Beach”, I have to admit that the way Wesley and Leon Rose have handled Carmelo Anthony’s situation makes me sick.

I apologize to anyone who’s enamored with these two, or feels loyalty to CAA because fo the fact they represent LeBron, but these two guys are pure cretins.

Let me first state that I have nothing against Carmelo Anthony deciding he doesn’t want to play in Denver anymore. He’s been there as long as LeBron was in Cleveland and Chris Bosh was in Toronto, and had to have felt somewhat disappointed.

Although he went further in the playoffs than Bosh, like LeBron he never reached the pinnacle, and probably figured he never would with the Nuggets. That kind of frustration for someone as talented as he is must run deep, and seeing LeBron, Bosh, and Wade form a Superteam in Miami must have increased that frustration tenfold. There’s no doubt Lance Stephenson is talented.

On the court he’s a prodigy with enough skill to be considered part of the future of the Indiana Pacers. Off the court he seems like just another thug.

He’s made headlines recently, with online journalists and bloggers going nuts with the recent news of him assaulting his girlfriend, which is extremely serious.

That bit of news led people to dig deeper, and not only are his recent troubles coming to light and bringing him attention, but negative aspects of his character have surfaced from his days in high school and college as well.

Many of the journalists and bloggers weighing in on these issues have voiced a belief that the Indiana Pacers general manager, Larry Bird, would do well just to release the troubled player. Read the rest of this entry »

The Boston Celtics added a new face (albeit a familiar one) to their team.

It’s a face that Celtics fans in the past probably weren’t all that thrilled to see. This is because the face I’m referring to belongs to Shaquille O’Neal.

For a good part of his illustrious career, the “Big Diesel” as he’s known to his fans, played for one of Boston’s most hated rivals, the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. And despite the fact Shaq’s Lakers never faced the Celtics in the NBA Finals like the Showtime Lakers of the 80’s, that old time rivalry still infused the more recent teams with bitter feelings toward each other.

Simply put, no self-respecting Boston fan would have ever done anything but root against those Los Angeles teams O’Neal played for. Read the rest of this entry »

With the roster trimmed down to 15 for Team USA as they prepare for the FIBA Worlds, they will have to cut three more players to get set for Turkey.

Such selection processes are never easy. With such players as Tyreke Evans and O.J. Mayo already having been cut, it’s easy to see that the players remaining are very talented indeed (they’d have to be to have beaten out those two talented players).

So, I don’t envy Coach K his job on this one, but I will try and use a little bit of my knowledge to try and predict just what he may end up deciding in the end.

With that said, here is how I think the roster will shake out.

Enjoy, and share your opinions. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the most common types of articles on most sports websites are comparisons between teams, and especially comparisons between players. These are pieces that  can certainly be a fun way to pass some time.

There have been numerous articles (generating thousands upon thousands of comments) contemplating who is the better player, Kobe Bryant or LeBron James.

There have been an even greater number of articles wondering whether Kobe deserves to be ranked with Jordan; which at times sparks so much controversy it makes you wonder whether those commenting on it all are even out of grade school.

There are even some articles questioning who is the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time), with Michael Jordan being the de facto answer of a majority of those I see. However, my view is that Wilt Chamberlain deserves that honor. That only the “Big Dipper” deserves to be called the Greatest NBA Player Ever! Read the rest of this entry »
